MARTA PARTNERS WITH ASIAN AMERICAN FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT NATIONAL STOP ASIAN HATE DAY

‘No Place For Hate’ Messages Running at Lindbergh Center, Buckhead, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium Stations

ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is partnering with The Asian American Foundation to support a nationwide Stop Asian Hate Day of Action on Friday, March 26. ‘No Place For Hate’ messages will run on digital billboards at Lindbergh Center, Buckhead, and Mercedes-Benz/State Farm Arena/GWCC/CNN rail stations for 30 days, and messages of support for Asian-Americans will be shared and amplified on social media using the tag #StopAsianHate.

The nationwide effort comes after the murders of eight people, six of them Asian women, at day spas in Atlanta on March 16, and after an increase in anti-Asian sentiment in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic which originated in China.

“There is no place for discrimination or racial targeting of any kind on our transit system and we’re proud to support this effort,” said General Manager and CEO Jeffrey Parker. “All are welcome on MARTA.”

If you feel unsafe for any reason or see something that doesn’t feel right, notify MARTA Police immediately either in person, through the See & Say app on your phone, or by picking up a blue phone at any rail station.
