MARTA TEAMS WITH PERIMETER COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS TO BEAUTIFY DUNWOODY RAIL STATION
Ribbon-Cutting to Unveil Artwork, Safety Improvements to be Held June 22nd

ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), City of Dunwoody, and Perimeter Community Improvement Districts (PCIDs) will host a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday, June 22 at 11 a.m., to unveil aesthetic and safety improvements to the Park & Ride and shuttle pick-up area at Dunwoody rail station in DeKalb County.

A panel of local art professionals, representatives from MARTA’s public art program Artbound, PCIDs, and Spruill Center of the Arts selected Atlanta artist Neka King to paint a mural on the walls behind the shuttle pick-up/drop-off area, and the PCIDs worked with MARTA’s Office of Architecture & Design to install wayfinding decals and upgraded lighting.

“Dunwoody Station is an essential hub for the Center Perimeter. Our partnership with MARTA made it possible to enliven the space and experience for professionals who use the many last-mile shuttles in the district. It creates a better customer experience and reflects an evolution of Perimeter that has been underway for decades and is at its most visible around Dunwoody Station,” said Ann Hanlon, executive director of the PCIDs.

“We appreciate PCIDs’ work in enhancing this area of Dunwoody Station and are excited about the opportunity to feature work from a talented local artist,” said MARTA Artbound Director Katherine Dirga.
