Brookhaven Station Rehabilitation
Current Status
Construction (Skip Stop Complete).
Project Overview
We are pleased to announce that Brookhaven Station Skip Stop is complete and train access is resumed! During the six-week Skip Stop from October to November 2024, construction crews removed the 40-year-old, deteriorating pavers on the platform to ensure customer safety and accessibility to the station. Thank you for your patience as we completed this work to keep Brookhaven Station running smoothly for another 40 years and beyond.
Image Description: This before-and-after image shows the platform renovations at Brookhaven Station. The left side displays the 40-year-old platform with worn, cracked bricks, while the right side shows the renovated platform with smooth, light gray tiles. Final touches are being made, and construction barriers line the edges of the platform, which will be removed when train service resumes at the station on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
During the platform renovation, we performed the following tasks:
- Demolition of existing flooring
- Installation of new tile flooring
- Installation of new tactile warning strips on platform edges
- Installation of new expansion joints, benches and trash receptacles
- Pressure-washing, sealing and graffiti resistant coating applied to concrete areas
While platform access is restored, additional work will continue over the coming months. Brookhaven Station is undergoing a comprehensive rehabilitation to enhance safety, accessibility, and convenience. The recently completed platform work is part of MARTA’s larger State of Good Repair Program.
